Calculate a tip
Enter the bill amount and the percentage you choose. The tip is the main answer; the total including the tip appears directly underneath. Open Breakdown and math if you want the steps.
For a bill of 85.50 and a tip of 18%, the tip is 15.39 and the total is 100.89.
How the math works
Tip = bill × tip percentage ÷ 100. Round the tip to two decimal places, then add it to the bill. Half a cent rounds up. For example, 10% of 0.05 is 0.005, which becomes 0.01.
The calculator accepts an amount above zero and up to 10,000,000, and a percentage from 0 to 100. Both allow up to two decimal places. Enter digits and a decimal point without commas or currency symbols.
Check the bill for an included service charge or gratuity before adding anything. This tool calculates your input; it does not determine tipping customs or a required payment. Entries stay in your browser and are not saved. To divide the total, use the Bill splitter.
