Find the price after a discount

Enter the original price and the percentage taken off. For 80.00 at 25% off, you save 20.00 and pay 60.00 before any tax.

    The calculation

Savings = original price × discount ÷ 100. Sale price = original price − savings. The discount is rounded to the nearest hundredth before subtraction, so the displayed amounts add up.

For successive discounts, use the first result as the next original price. Starting with 100.00, 20% off gives 80.00; another 10% off gives 72.00. The combined saving is 28.00.

    Limits

This calculates one discount at a time. Coupons with minimum spends, maximum savings, exclusions, or buy-one-get-one terms need their own rules. Enter amounts up to 10,000,000 and percentages from 0 to 100, with up to two decimal places. Use one currency throughout; no currency conversion is performed.

    FAQs

    Does this include sales tax?

No. The result is the discounted price before tax or other charges. Use the Sales tax calculator with that price if you know the applicable rate.

    Do two discounts add together?

No. Apply each discount to the remaining price. A 20% discount followed by 10% off gives 28% off overall, not 30%.

Can I enter a discount of zero or 100%?

Yes. Zero leaves the price unchanged; 100% makes the price zero.

    How are the decimals rounded?

The discount amount rounds to two decimal places, with half a cent rounded up. That rounded discount is subtracted from the original price.
