Start with the trip distance

Enter the total trip distance, or select one way to double it for the return. With odometer readings, the tool subtracts the starting reading from the ending reading. Odometer mode already represents the distance driven, so it does not double that difference.

For 100 miles and an illustrative rate of 0.50 per mile, estimated reimbursement is 50.00 in your entered currency. That rate is an example, not a recommended or official rate. A trip from odometer 12,450 to 12,550 also measures 100 miles.

Estimate fuel separately

At 25 miles per US gallon, a 100-mile trip uses an estimated 4 US gallons. At 4.00 per gallon, fuel costs 16.00. For liters per 100 kilometers, multiply kilometers by the consumption figure, then divide by 100.

Distance is converted internally when the efficiency unit differs, using 1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers. Fuel economy varies with traffic, load, weather, and driving conditions. The estimate excludes tolls, parking, maintenance, and other travel costs. Enter your own expected fuel price; there is no local-price feed.

FAQs

Does this choose or verify my route?

No. Enter a distance you already know, or subtract your starting odometer from your ending reading. Maps, GPS tracking, and route verification are not included.

Which reimbursement rate should I use?

Enter the rate agreed with your employer or client, in your chosen currency per mile or kilometer. No tax-agency or employer rate is filled in automatically.

Should I add fuel cost to reimbursement?

Not automatically. A mileage rate may already cover fuel and other vehicle costs. The tool keeps the two estimates separate so you can apply the actual reimbursement agreement.

Are my trips saved?

No. Entries remain in the current page and are not saved as a mileage log. Copy a result if you need a record, and keep any supporting trip details separately.

Have an idea for a tool I should add? Send it in. I read every suggestion and choose which ones to build next.

For example: "Count the weekdays until a date, without holidays."
